The Seneca Valley Sugarloafers Volksmarch Club is sponsoring Walk the Muddy Branch Greenway Trail in Gaithersburg on Saturday, Oct. 13. There are 10km and 5km trails, which are rated 2C. The planned excursions are out and back walks on the Muddy Branch Greenway Trail, a natural surface path that traverses the Muddy Branch Stream Valley in twists and turns over varied terrain and through ecosystems including upland forests, stream banks and meadows. The trails are not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
The walk is free unless Volksmarchers want to register for IVV Credit for $3. Children 12 and under can earn IVV Credit for no charge at all events sponsored by the Seneca Valley Sugarloafers. The start time is between 8 a.m. and noon; walkers must finish by 3 p.m.
The Start/Finish point is MedImmune/AstraZeneca, 200 Orchard Ridge Drive, Gaithersburg. Parking is in the lot behind the building.
Pets are allowed on this walk, but must be leashed at all times. Port-a-Potties, trail instructions and a map, water and hard candy will be available at the start/finish. This walk will be held unless conditions cause the sponsors to close the trail for safety reasons.
